Guidelines in Real Time

The PGA Jr. League 2020 Program Guidelines were designed within the framework of Back2Golf and in alignment with the CDC. In that light, we’re asking Captains, Coaches, players and families to all be our partners in ensuring healthy and responsible experiences this year.

From dedicated hula hoop spacing during practice to physical distancing on the first tee, you can watch these experiences come to life on our Guidelines in Real Time page linked here:

We’re excited to welcome you back to the 2020 season of PGA Jr. League! Teamwork and togetherness are at the heart of the PGA Jr. League experience, and while it will look differently this season, we can stay true to those values with your help.

PGA Jr. League Captains and Coaches have been provided updated program guidelines to run games, practices and activities this year, which we’ve included below. Updated May 4, 2020

As we all continue to navigate the evolving landscape of COVID-19 and youth sports, we are writing today with several important updates about the 2020 season of PGA Jr. League. Our priority is always to impact lives through golf by maximizing opportunities for you to have healthy, fun, and meaningful experiences with your friends and PGA Coaches at your local facilities. It is within this spirit that we share the following:

The plan to responsibly resume play for your local leagues is emerging as follows:

  • Spring/Summer and Fall Seasons are being combined into one to maximize flexibility with scheduling throughout the remainder of the year.
  • Subject to the regulations of your state and local authorities, we are targeting June 1 as the earliest date to allow local league play to resume, provided that the resumption of activities shall only be allowed in localities that are currently in Phase II of the Opening Up America Again guidelines.
  • Additionally, we are currently developing modified competition policies to assist our PGA Jr. League Captains and Coaches ensure compliance with distancing guidelines.
  • Please stay tuned for detailed information as plans and schedules are finalized and implemented.

It is with a heavy heart that we share news of cancelling the 2020 postseason. We recognize these events create fun, unique, and life-lasting memories for participating players. There are a number of reasons for making this difficult decision, including:

  • It prioritizes health by not hosting any events requiring air travel.
  • With counties and states having different timelines for reaching Phase II, it maximizes flexibility for local league schedules throughout 2020.
  • It creates clarity going into the season about our focus on local league play.

We believe PGA Jr. League will be a wonderful opportunity for kids, families, and communities to come together coming out of COVID-19. The timing of resuming play will be based on guidance from your local authorities, and like you, we are eager for those days to come. Thank you as always for your commitment and support, and we look forward to being your partner through a uniquely fun 2020 season.
