Region 1 Roundup: Western All-Stars Take the Title

The Western All-Stars are headed to the PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental in November!

It was a brisk morning at Watertown Golf Club in Connecticut, but it didn’t stop these All-Stars from sporting their shorts and brand new Regional jerseys courtesy of our Official Partner, National Car Rental!

The Western All-Stars begin the day at Watertown Golf Club. They would go on to win their first game 8.5 to 3.5.

In the morning session, the Connecticut PGA Jr. League Section Champion Western All-Stars won out against the New England PGA Jr. League Section Champion Patriot 128 All-Stars with a score of 8 ½ to 3 ½.

The 495 All-Stars –– who were runners-up at the New England PGA Jr. League Section Championship presented by National Car Rental to secure an at large bid to the Region –– narrowly defeated the Northeast New York PGA Jr. League Section Champion Saratoga National All-Stars with a score of 6 ½ to 5 ½.

Siblings ruled at Watertown:


Both the Patriot 128 All-Stars and the Western All-Stars had siblings playing on the same teams!

Twins Gunther and Lillian Guleserian, 11, are teammates on the Patriot 128 All-Stars.

Brothers Galen (12) and Reilly (11) Fowles are members of the Western All-Stars.

In the second session, the Western All-Stars defeated the 495 All-Stars, to increase their winning record to 2-0. After winning their game, the Saratoga National All-Stars brought their record to 1-1 with a total of 13.5 points, just edging out the 495 All-Stars’ record of 1-1 and 10 total points.

The Western All-Stars achieved a perfect 3-0 winning record in the final round Sunday morning, besting the Saratoga National All-Stars 9 ½ to 2 ½ to advance to the PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental!

Victory was even sweeter for the Western All-Stars:

Team Connecticut All-Star alumni Mia Hidalgo (’17) and Matt Doyle (’16) cheered on the Western All-Stars from the sidelines!

Final Results:

1st: Western All-Stars (3-0 Record, 26.5 Points)

2nd: 495 All-Stars (1-1-1 Record, 16 Points)

3rd: Saratoga National All-Stars (1-2 Record, 16 Points)

4th: Patriot 128 All-Stars (0-2-1 Record, 13.5 Points)

Regional Champions: Western All-Stars

Third Place: Saratoga National All-Stars

Runners-Up: 495 All-Stars

Fourth Place: Patriot 128 All-Stars
