We’re very excited to showcase the ways in which PGA and LPGA Professional Captains are enriching the lives of PGA Jr. League golfers across the country. These stories spotlight Captains who are inspiring a lifetime interest in the game and engaging their communities through PGA Jr. League as well as the boys and girls who are being positively impacted by the program.
Duchene is the Director of Golf for Pro Kids/The First Tee of San Diego. His team received PGA REACH scholarship funding to support PGA Jr. League in 2017 to allow nearly 30 kids to enjoy playing on a team for the first time. Brothers Zubeyr and Abdullahi Mohamed, whose family moved to the United States from Somalia and competed on the team in 2017, are now leaders on the team and in their community.

Milton with his PGA Jr. League teams.
Milton is the Head PGA Professional at Polson Bay Golf Course in Polson, Montana, which has a population of 5,000 people. Impressively, Milton has grown his program from one team to six teams of 72 kids in just four seasons by relying on word of mouth. He is passionate about junior golf and Captains diverse teams of kids from various backgrounds and of all abilities. Milton is also a three-time recipient of the Pacific Northwest PGA Section Youth Player Development Award.
Utah PGA Section Operations Director Annie Fisher is a PGA Jr. League coach for Glenmoor Golf Course in South Jordan, Utah, alongside Captain Darci Dehlin-Olsen, PGA. Fisher’s sons, Warren and Weston, both play in the Glenmoor league. Ten-year-old Warren is already quite the star, regularly interviewing local celebrities and members of the community for “The Warren Report,” a video show produced for the Utah PGA Section.

Anthony Rodriguez, PGA, also known as Coach A-Rod, with PGA Jr. League golfers Madison and Dhanna.
Rodriguez is the Head PGA Professional at Mosholu Golf Course in Bronx, New York, as well as the Director of New York Player Development for The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. Coach A-Rod leads four PGA Jr. League teams of 40 players, 12 of whom received scholarships through PGA REACH’s partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation Sports Matter grant. Two of his players, Madison Rios and Dhanna Lopez, were introduced to the game through community outreach programs and have since become involved in a number of golf programs.
Pelletier is a member of the University Park Pythons PGA Jr. League team in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas, which is Captained by PGA Professional Chuck Higgins. Pelletier is diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and social communication disorder, which makes it difficult for him to make friends and relate to others. PGA Jr. League has helped him gain confidence and grow into one of the team leaders both on and off the course.
