A Game-Changing Season Ahead

By PGA of America, 01/23/18, 11:15AM EST

Following record-breaking growth, new and exciting updates are in store for the 2018 season

PGA Jr. League PSA

Through PGA Jr. League, PGA and LPGA Professional Captains are bringing family and friends together around fun, team golf experiences. We’re excited to move into 2018 with new, game-changing updates planned for the season!

Last year, a record-setting 42,000 boys and girls played on 3,400 PGA Jr. League teams. We’re encouraged by the fact that 80 percent of these players identified as beginner or recreational golfers. PGA Jr. League is for every player, of every skill level, everywhere!

PGA Jr. League has been a great way to introduce my kids to golf. They've gotten hours of instruction on the course and range along with a more stress-free way to play matches with the match play format. It has really been great for both my daughter and son!

– PGA Jr. League Parent Macey M., Alabama

Thanks to the efforts of nearly 2,300 PGA and LPGA Professionals captaining PGA Jr. League teams, kids are engaging in golf in a welcoming format that fosters a lifetime love of the game.

– PGA President Paul Levy

Our goal is to make PGA Jr. League accessible to all interested kids in the United States and around the world. With the tremendous support of our partners, we’re focused on achieving our mission of positively impacting lives of youth, in order to grow the game.

A peek into a few of the 2018 season updates:

National Car Rental’s support of PGA Jr. League as Official Partner has helped provide each player with two high-quality Garb jerseys to represent home and away games (one orange and one blue), available in boys and girls sizing! Players will also receive a performance t-shirt, bag tag and stickers, hat, and drawstring bag. An online store is also opening this season, which will allow parents to order additional team gear!

PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth pillar program of PGA REACH, the 501 (c)(3) foundation of the PGA of America. Through PGA REACH’s partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation Sports Matter grant, scholarships are available on a limited basis to players of participating facilities who meet financial need requirements or are from a military family. Your PGA Jr. League Captain can provide you with additional details.

In 2016, PGA REACH partnered with national African-American fraternity Sigma Pi Phi, with the aim of increasing racial and ethnic diversity in PGA Jr. League participation. In its second year, the program grew to nearly 340 youth of color across 10 markets nationwide. In 2017, PGA Jr. League expanded to China in partnership with NLN, LLC, a joint venture between the Nicklaus Companies, a global marketing, licensing and golf course design company; League Golf, the original partner developers of the PGA Jr. League format; and NPlay Golf, a golf technology company.
